Have fun and burn calories moving to music, using moves based on Cha Cha, Waltz, Nightclub 2-Step, Disco, Hip Hop, Jazz, Disco and more. For more info, email Laura at lhorton69@yahoo.com.
Wenatchee Contra Dance. Contra dance refers to several folk dance styles in which couples dance in two facing lines of indefinite length and perform moves similar to square dancing. Easy for beginners to pick up. See their web page or email them for more info.
Round dancing is choreographed and cued ballroom dancing. It differs from free-style ballroom dancing in that each round dance has been fully choreographed, and a “cuer” or leader tells the dancers, as they dance, what steps to do. As a result, all the dancers on the floor are dancing the same steps at the same time. The local group, the Promenaders, meets Thursday nights at the East Wenatchee Grange. If you’re new to round dancing, you should start lessons in the fall (contact them for exact dates). $3/lesson. Email for more info.
